Happy Halloween!

Hi ,

Can you believe it's already Halloween? My daughter wanted to learn about Halloween on Halloween, but I pointed out to her that she'd probably be busy with Halloween activities on the day. So we spent the last several days learning about the history of this holiday.

Here are some of the resources we used:

Hmm ... I should create a Halloween unit study! Lucky for you to get a sneak peek here!

Anyway, this was supposed to be the email to update you about what's new on the blog:

  • Empire Engine is a very small game that packs a big resource-management and risk-assessment punch
  • Continuing on the theme of small games, Deep Sea Adventure is partially cooperative, partially competitive, and excellent for older kids.
  • Bulls and Cows isn't my favorite. See why in this post!
  • Finally, Potato Pirates is a super fun, very competitive game to learn about coding.

On the YouTube channel, we have new play-throughs of 221B Baker Street, Sail Away, Crows, and Codenames. This month, you can look for play-throughs of Axis and Allies, The Oregon Trail Card Game, Clue, Story Line: Fairy Tales. This month on the blog, you can look forward to reviews on Mad Gab, Code Master, and Periodic, as well as a round-up post of the coding games my family has tried.

Whether or not your family celebrates Halloween, I hope you are enjoying the last of this year's harvest (if you're in the northern hemisphere). Until next time,

Happy Gaming!
