How to break down your goals in actionable steps (Part 3 of 4)
Oct 07, 2020 9:01 am
Hey there,
So, I went ahead with it...
I got it in my head that I was ready to leave, that I wanted something else.
You know what's funny? I've noticed that once you get into your head that you want to do something, it won't leave your mind. It's a bit like a fly flying around you aimlessly, distracting you!
I had to do something. I had to get that distracting fly away. There was only one way...
I highlighted the main goal I wanted to achieve. This was getting out of my IT career and moving into marketing.
How was I going to make the move?
First, I listed out my options and main goals.
I took it upon myself to create a short timeline, to understand what could be done to help my current circumstance.
I found that it's so much easier to visualise and achieve large goals when you support them with smaller goals and break them down into steps.
The idea was to take the first step, such as apply for a short digital marketing course to see if I like it. Then apply to a Master's course in it to see if I get accepted, then decide whether or not to take an offer if it came through.
Things started to change. An unexpected snowball effect...
Next week you'll find out what went down.
Cheers,
Neil
