I have breaking news!
As of last night, I finished the first draft of the first book of The Willstone Legacy, my new fantasy series!
Landros Willstone is cursed. Every month, without warning, magic rips him across the world and drops him somewhere new - no control, no preparation, just pain. Three years of it now, all to pay for a crime an ancestor committed a thousand years ago.
Then Eira, his oldest friend and an apprentice mage, builds an amulet that may buy him extra time between displacements. For the first time, Landros has a chance to do something other than survive - until a conspiracy tangled up in necromancy and corrupt AetherLords threatens the only stability he's known in years.
I started writing Birthright in late October/early November. I finished Act One in a month. Things slowed down around the holidays, and after that pause it took another seven months to finish Acts Two and Three. Overall, I spent nine months bringing this book to life.
It's a great feeling to finish a draft. The initial creation always feels like the hardest part, but once the elation wears off, you quickly learn the real work is about to begin. I'll start by rereading the draft. This time as a reader, not a writer. I'll take notes about what works, what doesn't, and make some light edits along the way. After that, there'll be several more editing passes, including a structural pass, a line pass, and a few others. Once I make the story as good as I can on my own, then I'll send it off to my editor for their feedback.
I want to put out the best book possible, so I won't venture a guess about a release date just yet. In the meantime, to celebrate the completion of the first draft, here's a first look at Birthright's title treatment!
Novel Notices
Now that I'm done with the first draft of Birthright, I'll be turning my attention to my unfinished Mechhaven novella, Routine Expedition.
Another upcoming project is some light editing on the Mechhaven series to prepare for the Omnibus Edition.
I'm also planning on doing a website refresh. Most of the site is done. I just need to prepare to do the back-end transfer from one host to another, which I have never done before and need to make sure it's a smooth transition.

The Geek Speak Expo August 8th-CANCELED
Unfortunately The Geek Speak Expo scheduled for August 8th was cancelled. Hopefully there will be some sort of Virtual Geek Speak Expo later this year. I'll provide details as soon as they become avaiable.
WorldCon 2026/LAconV August 27th-31st
I'll be with Ingrid Moon and the SoCal Sci-Fi & Fantasy Collective (registered before we switched to "Crew"). I don't have the booth number yet, but will post on social media and or send out a quick update once I have the details.
GameACon 2026 October 17th and 18th
This was my best show last year, so I'll be back at The Shops @ Palm Desert. This time, I'll be bringing friends! I'll be exhibiting with the other authors of the SoCal Sci-Fi & Fantasy Crew. More details to come.
LA Comic Con October 30th-November 1st
