Who we are: We are a family of 5 serving among the Deaf for 15 years with 13 years in Central Asia and Middle East.

Why the Deaf? There are 80 million Deaf in the world, over 200 Deaf people groups. “Deaf” is capitalized because they are people groups with their own culture, worldview, and language. The Deaf are highly distinct, not simply a disabled subset of the general population. The Deaf all over the world share an affinity that knows no barriers, allowing them to connect in a unique way across borders and nationalities.

Are all sign languages the same? No. American Sign Language is not the same as British Sign Language even though English is spoken in both countries. A single region, such as Central Asia, can have a single standardized sign language with nuances and dialects across countries in the region but that is rare. A majority of the countries have their own sign language. Every worker being sent overseas to the Deaf must become proficient in the local sign language in order to effectively share the Good News.

Sign language is a complex linguistic system that is visual and spatial and is not written. To write sign language down, it requires translation into another language that can be printed. For example, American Sign Language would need to be translated into English and then that translation can now be printed.

Do the Deaf have access to the Word in their heart language? The sign language they know is their heart language in which they understand and are transformed when they learn about our LJC. If their Word is not in their heart language which is not written, how do they access the Word? The Word must be rendered visually. Currently, there are translation projects over the world to put the Word in sign languages on video across various platforms. There is only one sign language that the Word has been entirely rendered and hundreds of sign languages with no translation efforts.

Why don’t you give them the printed Word to read? Reading requires learning a second (verbal and printed) language which the Deaf don’t always have access to for various reasons. Even if a Deaf person is proficient in the second language, it often isn’t their heart language and the ease of learning and transforming is missing.

How can you partner with us? Pr-yer is the most powerful work, calling on the Father to spread the Good News, to change hearts of stone to hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19), making the dead alive with our LJC because of His great love (Eph 2:4-5), and to make His glory known in all the earth (Ps: 57:11). Your pr-yers can raise up more warriors to pr-y alongside you and to raise up workers to go and serve among the Deaf alongside us. Please subscribe below to receive our newsletters.
