Why I write every day

May 19, 2025 9:40 pm

Most people wait to feel inspired before they write.

I don’t.

I write to create inspiration.

Even when I can’t be arsed.

Even when I used to feel like the biggest impostor in the world.

Even when the words felt clunky, forced, and written by a horse..

Because the point, my dear reader, isn’t to write something perfect.

The point is to show up as a writer.

Once you see yourself as a writer, the resistance weakens and your will only grows stronger by the minute.

Your identity carries you through the hard days and makes yesterday's troubles feel like a piece of cake.

You stop negotiating with yourself.

You stop making excuses.

You just open the doc and run like the wind, bullseye.

Start small if you have to.

  • 10 words
  • A messy paragraph
  • Even a single sentence

Just write.

And do it every day.

Even if it’s bad.

Nay, especially if it’s bad.

You’ll thank yourself (and me) later.
