Welcome back to work after your three-day weekend in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day! The GFT officers and staff hope you took time to rest and reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s significant impact on civil rights and labor movements. Martin Luther King Jr. championed the rights of workers, advocating for fair wages and safe working conditions. He supported the labor movement by highlighting the need for solidarity among workers, connecting social justice with economic equality. Active union membership is crucial for protecting our rights and strengthening our collective voice for fairness and equality at work. February 23, 2026 General Membership Meeting

Our next General Membership meeting is scheduled for February 23, 2026, at the GFT Hall in Mangilao. Meeting starts at 6PM. Thank you to those who attend these meetings regularly. Please consider attending if you have not participated in past meetings.

GFT At-Large Officer (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and AFT Convention Delegate Elections

Around Christmas, we mailed you a postcard about our upcoming election process. The submission of candidacy starts Friday, January 23, 2026, 8AM and closes Friday, February 6, 2026, 5PM at the GFT office. The positions that are up for election are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and AFT Convention Delegate.

Election day for these At-Large positions is on Friday, February 20, 2026, 8AM to 5PM. Absentee voting begins on Monday, February 16, 2026 8AM and ends on Thursday, February 19, 2026 5PM at the GFT office. Voting for the AFT Convention Delegate will occur during the GFT Annual Convention in March 2026.

To run for a union officer position, you must have been a member in good standing on or before Friday, January 23, 2026. To run as an AFT Convention Delegate, you must be a member in good standing on or before Friday, January 23, 2026, and must be an active member, regularly attending the Executive Council and the General Membership meetings.

You must be a member in good standing on or before Friday, February 20, 2026, to vote in the upcoming GFT elections.
