NURSES CALL TO ACTION

GFT has received multiple messages and phone calls from nurse members informing us of Travel Nurse job openings on Guam that are offering pay at several times the salary of what our local nurses make.

Per our GFT Field Representatives, it is time that ALL nurses stand up, united and demand fair treatment and fair pay; but most of all, demand maximum safety in the workplace. The resolution of this matter is well within the authority of the Governor.

All nurses are urged to engage the Governor in discussions about current nursing conditions on Guam and garner full support for this effort. To spread this fight now and increase awareness of this injustice, you are encouraged to do the following: visit the Governor's Facebook page, call your Senators, create a blog, notify the media, and/or post on your social media platforms.

BOOKWAVES LAUNCHES ON GUAM

GFT is pleased to announce that in conjunction with AFT, First Book, and the BookWaves Coalition, more than 40,000 free books will be distributed to students and children in Guam. PPE DONATION FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS

GFT would like to thank the Chinese American Fraternal Organization, C100 and the American Federation of Teachers for donating PPE to healthcare workers on Guam. C100 donated 400 n95 masks for healthcare professionals and were distributed by GFT to members of the Department of Health and Human Services. AFT donated 400 face shields and 4000 disposable masks. The PPE will be distributed to various agencies on Guam.

PIZZA HUT BOOK-IT PACKETS NOW AVAILABLE

The Pizza Hut BOOK-IT! program motivates children to ready by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza! The packets are now available for elementary teachers aft the GFT office in Mangilao. Packets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
