Use the Pain You Endured To Help Others
Many people live with pain and choose to remain in it rather than use it to help others. If you are currently living with pain, I want to take this time to encourage you to use that pain to help others.
Years ago, I went to a chiropractor. Mary was a young woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a very energetic personality.
As I lay on the table and she adjusted my neck and back, I asked, “Why do you like chiropractic care?”
She responded, “When I was twelve, I fell off a horse and hit my tailbone so hard that the doctor said I would never walk again.”
“Ugh, that sounds painful,” I responded.
She continued, “The doctor was wrong because after six months of physical therapy, I was walking again, but with intense pain. That went on for three years, and I tried to get rid of the pain with more physical therapy, acupuncture, and other treatments. I was 15 years old, dealing with pain that kept me from enjoying the physical activities all my friends were doing.”
“That sounds terrible,” I interrupted.
She continued, “Then one day, my friend Sarah approached me and asked, ‘Have you tried seeing a chiropractor for your back pain?’ I said, ‘What is a chiropractor?’
She explained it was a doctor who adjusted bones. I went to see a chiropractor the next week, and he adjusted my tailbone. My lower back pain disappeared. That experience inspired me to become a chiropractor, so I could use the pain I endured to help others.”
Mary decided not to live in her pain but to find a solution that inspired her to use it to help others. This applies to the pain you have endured.
It may not be physical but emotional—whatever it is, if you choose to find a solution instead of living in it, you can use it to help others. I highly recommend that you choose to do so because You Are WORTHY TO BE GREAT!
