There are moments in life when you may feel pressured to do something, even though your instincts tell you not to. In these situations, it’s important to Let No Be Your Savior, so it can save you from disaster, as it did for me.

WHAT TRAINING?

Several years ago, when I worked at a wellness corporation, my manager said to me, "Gene, we need you to go to a training in a couple of hours." I knew nothing about the training, so I started asking my colleagues in similar positions if they were going.

None of them knew what I was talking about, so I immediately realized something was up. I emailed my clinical specialist who would be conducting the training, and she requested that I come to her office.

When I arrived, she said "Gene, close the door. What I'm about to say stays between us. I don't want to do this training, and I'm going to tell you why. One of our executives went on a prospecting trip, and he sold a major corporation a children's wellness program that we don't offer in order to meet his quota."

THIS WHY I'M THE ONLY BEING ASKED TO GO

"Why would he do that because we only work with individuals 18 and up?" "My guess is he wanted to get a bonus for reaching his sales goal. So, the reason you're the only one being asked to take this training is that people higher-up in the company want to hide that we don't actually have the program that the executive sold. The way they're planning on doing it is by using you because they noticed that you're a certified teacher. They think they can use that to try and legally cover themselves temporarily while they officially create the program."

I was shocked at their plan, so I asked, "Why don't they make the executive tell the corporation we don't have a kids program?" She explained, "He quit the moment they confronted him about it because he knew they were going to terminate him. Had they realized this 6 months ago when he originally did it, it could have been taken care of. The company he sold the program to is expecting the program in 2 weeks, so our higher-ups feel it's better we get someone who can legally coach children."

"I'LL QUIT" IS AN OPTION

"I won't let this company use me to coach this illegal program. My teacher certification and good reputation shouldn't be used to cover for their executives' negligence. They know we don't have the foundation or legal documents in place to protect us when coaching children. They'll have to be honest with that company because I'll quit before coaching anyone's child."

I left her office and went to my manager's office and said, "I'm not going to that training because I refuse to coach a children's program that we do not have the legal foundation to coach."

She responded, "It's your job Gene. You can't say what you're not going to do. You don't have an option." I responded, "Oh, I have an option. It's called quitting—which is what I will do if you try to force me to coach this program." She replied, "I understand Gene. Let me talk to my supervisors to see if we can come up with a solution."

PRESSURE TO DO THE RIGHT THING

They came up with a solution of refunding the company their money rather than trying to create a children's program in 2 weeks with my reputation and teacher certification. I was saved from this disaster because I allowed my No To Be My Savior.

When you are in pressured situations in your own life that you know can cause great harm to you, let No Be Your Savior because You Are WORTHY TO BE GREAT!
