Is God A Machine? | Robin Phillips
Greetings, dear newsletter subscriber,
I was recently speaking with a friend of mine who is greatly concerned about the negative influence of technology on his four daughters. This conversation led me to the new project that I mentioned to you in my last newsletter. My hope is that it will hopefully offer one bulwark against the growth of the Machine and its effect on our lives.
I had mentioned to my friend that I was planning to create a course for college students focused on the kinds of topics that we have been discussing in our study of Paul Kingsnorth's Against The Machine. He encouraged me, at least initially, to focus instead on children under the age of 13. Why?
As you likely know, a child's first years are the most developmentally critical. While many parents recognize the dangers around technology, they often feel overwhelmed as to how to begin to address this concern: Is resistance even possible? And if so...how?
If you are a concerned parent (grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc. (or if you know someone who is - please forward to them)), please click the (blue) link at the top of this message to complete a brief questionnaire. I have many ideas as to how to make things better...but I could use your feedback to help me shape a useful course!
Also...in case there was any question, I do plan to continue publishing reflections on the state of humanity in the 21st century, and how we find ourselves where we find ourselves. But, alas, there is only one of me and I must find a balance between theory and practice(!) Thanks for your patience...and ongoing support!
Have a great weekend, and I'll see you again soon!
Warmly,
Herman
