Greetings, dear newsletter subscriber,
- Do the values we live by help people thrive, not just survive?
- Do they endure across cultures and generations?
- Do they guide us toward deeper meaning and purpose?
We live in a world where values are constantly shifting—and not always in ways that serve us well. Some values genuinely help us flourish as human beings. Others come from technocratic systems that prioritize efficiency, metrics, and control over dignity, compassion, and meaning.
This week, I’ve released a new video (and article) where I begin to unpack the difference between human values and technocratic values. More importantly, I share 8 practical questions that you can use to test whether a value can be considered truly "human."
I think you’ll find this framework clarifying—and maybe even a bit challenging.
Please let me know: Do you find that your daily choices/lifestyle are mostly informed by human values, or technocratic ones? (In my experience, most of us are guided by technocratic values far more often than we realize...or would desire(!))
Please let me know your thoughts by either responding to this email, or commenting on the blog or video!
Have a great weekend, and we'll see you again next week!
To greater humanity!
Warmly,
Herman
