Grateful? Now, what needs to change?

Hi ,

It's Thanksgiving week, which means everyone everywhere is talking about gratitude. That's genuinely good. Gratitude matters a lot, and practicing it regularly changes your perspective.

Today, I want you to do something different with me. Something that's honestly harder than making gratitude lists.

I want you to get completely honest with yourself about what's not working in your professional life.

Rachel did this exercise last Thanksgiving. She sat down with her morning coffee and asked herself some tough questions that she'd been avoiding all year long.

She asked herself about her business image: "When clients see me on Zoom calls, do I actually look like someone who's worth premium rates?" "When I walk into networking events, do I look like I belong at the high-level tables where the real opportunities are?" "When potential clients visit my website for the first time, does my picture make them want to work with me or make them keep looking?" "When I speak at events, does my appearance genuinely support my message or work against it?"

Her honest answers to all of these questions were either "no" or "not really," and that was hard to admit.

This is hurtful to face. She'd been successfully avoiding these questions throughout the entire year. By Thanksgiving week, she finally stopped avoiding them and got real with herself.

She made a straightforward list of what needed to change: Get professional photos taken in January. Invest in two quality pieces that fit her perfectly and make her feel powerful. Fix her Zoom lighting setup once and for all. Update her website with current, professional pictures that actually look like her. Get three complete outfits that made her feel ready to handle her most important meetings.

Rachel didn't try to do everything on her list at once, which would have been overwhelming. She just tackled one item per month. By the next Thanksgiving, absolutely everything had changed for her.

Her business revenue had doubled. The changes weren't only because of image upgrades, but those image changes made her show up differently. She started showing up like someone who genuinely belonged at higher levels. This opened doors that had been completely closed to her before.

For coaches and speakers: Are you honestly showing up looking like someone who charges the rates you want to be charging?

For realtors: Does your professional image truly match the level and price point of properties you want to be selling?

For content creators and influencers: Is your current look genuinely supporting where you want to take your brand in the future?

For entrepreneurs: Does your image communicate the professional level you're trying to reach?

For career professionals: Do you look like someone who's truly ready for the promotion you say you want?

This week, during all the Thanksgiving activities, take some time to get honest with yourself. Don't be mean or harsh with yourself. Just be honest about what you see. Reply and complete this sentence for me: "The one image thing I've been avoiding dealing with is..." No judgment from me whatsoever. Just the truth, so we can figure out how to actually tackle it in December.
