What Entrepreneurship Is

Entrepreneurship is a personal growth engine disguised as a business pursuit.

Lots of people want the world to improve without wanting to improve themselves. Lots of people have learned to identify problems without learning how to solve them. Lots of people talk about a better way of doing things without picking up the rakes & shears & clearing the path.

There are myriad skills needed to build a brand, start a business, or make change. There are marketing skills, product development skills, management, collaboration, design, & supply chain skills.

But before we can effectively leverage any of them, there is a meta-skill worth strengthening.

That's the meta-skill of showing up, of assuming the posture of a fixer, of developing an attitude of doing.

If you're stuck deploying one or all of the necessary skills of building whatever you're building, it can help to examine how you're showing up in the world.

Are you pursuing better in every area of your life? Are you seeking out opportunities to solve problems? Are you making things better by focusing on how you can make better things?

Lots of people aren't willing to do this kind of self-exploration.

The difference between most people & those builders & change-makers we admire is often not that the latter can design products better than the former. It's often that they just see the world - & how they might move through it - differently.

This difference in perspective is, ultimately, what leads them to develop products better, to lead better, to build better. It starts with an attitude & that attitude leads to actions.
