A humanities professor moves to big tech (and a reminder about testimonials)

Dear ,
Yesterday I read a blog post written by a tenured professor turned instructional designer at a big tech company (his words) and want to share it with you!
If you read it, notice how Joe did the work that goes into a typical PhD career transition -- exploring his skills and interests, researching jobs, gaining additional experience, and networking. And of course applying and interviewing for jobs using a strategy that he knew would work best for his goals.
Joe is a great example of someone who needed to build a portfolio for his job search, which is common for folks moving into more creative or technical fields. It's comparable too with submitting a writing sample or showcasing your publications when you apply for academic jobs.
Joe's story is his own but the steps he took are not unique. I think many of you will find it meaningful as an example for your own transition. Here's the link again.

Two more things:
1) I'd like your feedback (positive, in this case!) on any aspect of the program or course. I may quote you in my marketing materials, so folks considering signing up in future will know better whether what's on offer will help them.
Thanks to those who've already responded! 😊
First, think about where you were prior to starting each section of the course (Prep, Focus, Identify, Market); if you've only gone through one of these, that's fine!
Second, how did you feel or what did you have after you completed that section, or even just a single lesson?
You might write something like, "before starting X, I was really stuck on Y. After going through the lessons and doing Z, I..." That's just an example. Please use your words, and know I won't share anything without you okaying it first.
2) Are you interested in me hosting more Zoom meetings? When?
Sending best wishes your way,
Jen
