Could you survive a full on lockdown?

As the Corona virus chugs along, with no end insight, governments face scrutiny on how they handled it and what they should do moving forward.

Many people say had the United States handled the virus like other countries we'd be back on track by now. Most of the US refused to do a full on lockdown. But should we have?

Look, I run a small business, and we've been hit hard by the pandemic, laying people off, losing 75% of our revenue, yet the bills remain the same, and everyone wants to get paid. So I get it.

I keep thinking back, not that looking back ever does any good for looking forward, but I run different scenarios in my head. And one of them is, yes, shut the entire country down for a few weeks, so we can rid ourselves of this thing.

But, being a business owner, I know how hard that would be. When you have families that depend on you for putting food on the table, paying mortgages and rent, car payments, utilities, its a tough thing to consider.

Especially knowing the government would then be in charge of people's lives. That's something I'm definitely not comfortable with. Not for any of my employees, not for my family, not for me.

So what do we do if the government decided that the only option was a full on lockdown? Would you be prepared to survive a couple weeks? The majority are not.

Imagine, you are in full quarantine. The only food you have is what you had prior to the lockdown, and whatever the government is delivering to your door. I'm sure that box would just be stocked full of all sorts of delicious goodies.

Look here's the thing, it's never too soon or too late to start stockpiling food, NEVER. So hit up your grocery stores, start stockpiling that canned food. We always add some extra cans to our grocery cart every week. Each week, we'll add a few extra cans of green beans, or pasta or whatever. We stay in budget, and add to our preps each week.

But I've also been ordering some survival food every month. Like I've said before, we use Legacy Foods, because we love their food, it tastes great, is easy to make and is less per pound then other survival food companies.

I've been buying their 60 serving bucket each month. It's $200, you get 60 servings nicely packaged in a plastic food bucket. With each of these buckets, I always add coffee, because how do you survive without coffee? Coffee is great as a morale booster, and can be a huge bartering supply as well.

Anyway, by adding just one of these buckets per month, I've been able to get a really nice stockpile of some really great tasting survival food.

Here’s an early hint: the “log cabin” fire method can be used in a cabin and anywhere else you need a fire! The terminology comes from the cross stacking of the fuel, not the location of the hearth.
