Online or in person?

Kia ora ,
You're getting this early in June to be first to hear my news.
A quick overview (scroll for details):
- Writing - market research continues, and I created a seascape audio for the Virtual writing space
- Austen - virtual discussions will talk about happiness in marriage, the podcast is talking about Edward arriving at Barton, and an online talk is coming up
- Life Coaching - I'll be offering in person sessions soon in Lower Hutt, anyone can email to join the waitlist. Because you're on this email list, you get exclusive access to a focused coaching series (online, one goal).
Have you seen The Other Bennet Sister? Oooh, it's wild!
Ngā mihi,
Frances
Writing
I've learnt in my ongoing market research:
- we're all busy and need short, focused sessions
- the idea of community is great, but one-on-one is better for getting things done
- we need someone to clarify and bounce ideas off
- solutions need to be adaptable/flexible because the thing that worked last time might not work this time
- motivation fluctuates
Do these sound true to your experience? Reply and let me know your thoughts.
It's been a year since my writing friend Pat died. I visit a beach near where he lived to remember him. Last time I was there, I recorded the sea to create a writing audio for the virtual monthly writing group.
Austen
The virtual monthly discussions are starting a new theme of alternative fates.
This month we'll explore the quote from Pride and Prejudice “Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance.”
- Which marriages are warnings of what to avoid?
- Are there any equal or love marriages?
- Can you see the main couple having children?
- Can you see potential issues in any of the marriages?
- Bonus: do you think the quote (from Charlotte Lucas's mouth) is Jane Austen’s thought?
In July we're discussing "All the Single Ladies."
Our journey through Sense and Sensibility on the podcast has brought Edward to Barton (chapter 16), he just misses Willoughby, who disappeared last week (chapter 15).
Rachel's talk to the society about diverse retellings was a hit, and we're looking forward to an online talk in July from Amy Blythe about her diverse retelling of Persuasion.
Life Coaching
Normally you get this email toward the end of the month, but I hope to have started coaching in person at Body of Work before then, and since I wanted you to know first....
I've made myself a notebook for my new clients, since I won't be able to use my computer! The cover is a quote from Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, a great reminder for everyone, but especially relevant to coaches.
(It'll be available soon in my Zazzle store.)
Sessions will be in Lower Hutt. You can email to join the waitlist for when slots open.
A coaching series, where we work together for 3 months, will remain online.
I'm offering a focused series, only open to my mailing list: one goal, 6 x 30 minute fornightly sessions, plus an optional 15 minute check in on the inbetween weeks for $500 NZD.
If a focused one goal series sounds right for you, sign up here.
