Ever been surfing?

So fun (scary too, though).

Being I grew up an inner city Brooklyn kid, the beaches weren't exactly surf spot attractions.

More like splish splash fun in 1980's sewage water.

Been to Brighton Beach?

Dirty diapers.

Tampons.

Used condoms.

The water is gross.

IMO, still is.

But, I bet it helped many develop tough immune systems.

You wanna immunize yourself against anything?

Start swimming in NYC water.

Anyways, surfing first started in Hawaii.

There are 12 century cave paintings showing folks riding waves.

The colonizer Captain James Cook also wrote about it first in his diaries (if he only knew his fate... he'd a left those folk's traditions alone).

Here's why I bring this up...

If I asked you if you wanted to go surfing, I could be wrong, but...

I bet your first inclination wouldn't be to think...

"Yes, but first let me create a surfboard and then let's go and create some waves."

No.

I'd imagine you'd think "Where you wanna go and who has surfboards?" or something like that.

You might start worrying about sharks and $hit, too, which makes sense (I am terrified of sharks... which is why I hate murky water).

The point is before we go off creating things that shape and change our environment, first...

We figure out what's going on in the environment.

What's happening naturally?

What's ALREADY there?

What are we ALREADY working with?

Natural resources present.

Then we start shifting, shaping and making new things.

That's resourcefulness.
