If not for the first $100, never would've had this $10k opportunity

Hi ,

Growing up pre-2,000’s Brooklyn was rough.

I knew people that were ixnayed over $20.

As a kid, I’ve been robbed at knife point for a backpack, beat up for a baseball cap, and chased for my jacket.

This wasn’t unusual.

These weren’t unexpected dangers.

It was normal.

At a base level, the world can be a very dangerous place.

Survival of the fastest, the fittest, and the most fortunate?

Extra hard when you’re a little awkward nerd.

You had to adapt.

It wasn’t until I got older that I was exposed to different ways of being.

Different realities.

Not everything was dangerous.

Not everyone was out to get you.

Still…

I had survival instincts, not “thrival” instincts.

Part of why I went away for college was to get as far away from my current reality as possible.

Couldn’t think of a place further from Brooklyn than Hawaii while still being in the U.S.

After that, I spent at least 15 years on the West Coast.

So many fond memories.

One of the strangest was in the business realm.

This was one of the first times I realized there is a whole other strata to life I could not fathom.

I had a client I had worked with a few times in the past.

He paid me for a project then ghosted me.

I’ve been ghosted in the past, maybe you have, too?

That’s not the weird part.

What’s weird is he paid me $10,000 then I never heard from him again.

LOL.

Ok, that’s not entirely true.

I did hear from him again.

It was about a year later and…

It was to see if he could pay me to take on a different project.

Baffled.

It was as if he completely forgot about the other project he paid me for.

So…

I asked him about it.

Dude says, “Oh yeah… don’t worry about it. We had to scratch that project, but if you can factor that into this other project, I’d really appreciate it.”

Stunned, I was like, “Yeah, of course.”

That wasn’t the only time this happened to me.

Happened again with a different client, different project.

Honestly, it’s still quite baffling as I write to you about this, but…

I’ve since come to realize…

Not everyone’s situational reality is the same.

Context makes all the difference.

Some situations are piss poor dangerous.

Deadly.

Where everything is about competition and a fight for survival.

Where the price of life ain’t much more than whatever's in your pockets.

Whether that's a few bucks, spare change, or just some old jolly ranchers.

Other situations are just “normal” competitive.

Like chasing a client to win their business… or trying to convince folks to give you the contract.

Everything is about context and the nature of the situation.

Perceptions of reality.

Beliefs.

It wasn’t until I spoke to people that I discovered what I now call their valuation of value.

Each situation has different value metrics and priorities of importance.

What’s important to one party might be completely unimportant to another.

You need to understand these differences.

What’s important to you and what’s important to them….

These could be completely different things.

To be effective selling you have to be aware of these factors.

For instance, I didn't realize how important the success of my past work was with that $10k client.

It was the only reason he was willing to give me $10k to begin with.

The project we started with... it was for something like $100 bucks.

It was all based on relationship, quality of work produced and results.

The point?

It all started with a small value exchange, first and then built up from there.

He had money.

He just needed someone he could rely on to do the work.

He tested me to deliver what he wanted.

I guess he wanted to see if I would try take advantage of him, too?

Once we got past that, the stakes got higher, but so did our relationship.

Once you have an understanding of this stuff, once you’re aware of the nuanced differences…

And how those differences are valued by the other party and…

You’re aware of your own value…

How to frame that in their world in such a way so that you don’t have to convince…

You don’t have to chase…

And you know how to evaluate who you’re doing business with…

So you don’t have to worry about being taken advantage of…

Life gets better.

One of the things that took me forever to figure out…

How to sus out good people to do business with.

One of my tests…

Who is already buying what I offer.

What kind of value exchange can we make as a little test to see how we work together?

One where neither feels taken advantage of.

The other feels they got more than they bargained for, fairly.

And that’s the reason this training even has a price tag.

Just look at some of my bio link testimonials.
