Why online sales is all a CHARADE (use this for I.M.P.A.C.T.)

Hi ,


Know a word that’s not such a good one for the game charades?


“What is the capital of Thailand for 2,000, Alex!”


(It’s Bangkok for those that didn’t know).


You ever play charades?


If not, the rules are simple.


Usually played in groups.


Folks take turns acting out a word to their teammates.


Teammates have to guess the word being acted out.


But there’s a time limit.


The team with the most correct guesses wins.


Simple.


There’s a phone app game called “Heads Up” which adds a cool dimension. 


It keeps track of all the words to be acted out, keeps time, and also…


It records video of the folks acting out the words.


It’s hilarious.


Super fun party game.


What makes it so fun?


Cooperative challenge.


Creativity.


Constraints.


It wouldn’t be much of a game if the person acting it out could just say the word.


The fun comes from the team challenge AND the competition.


The want to win.


The creative expression.


The rules.


Who makes the rules?


Makers of the game.


You don’t wanna play by the rules?


Change the game.


But make sure…


Others wanna play that game, too.


Otherwise that other game ain’t gonna be so fun.


Same thing with this marketing and sales stuff.


Before the internet, all we could do was offline stuff.


For the little guy, direct response was the most economical.


Branding is what the big guys did.


The internet is a whole new game.


Different playing field.


New rules.


The makers of these games have different rules.


And are quick to penalize those that break’em.


They’re also not fans of direct response marketing.


But, they sure do love indirect response.


Why?


Because, it’s a lot like charades.


NOT direct.


Requires a little creative constraint.


Nothing hard.


In fact, in many ways…


It’s WAAAAY easier.


But only IF you know the tricks.


You gotta know the hack-tics.


I have some to share with you.


Makes this stupid simple.


I put it in a framework called:


I.M.P.A.C.T.


Bet you could take a guess what that first letter stands for.


Hint: I’m actually acting it out for you here in this post.

No charades play acting necessary.

Except one…
