He's a former slave who became one of America's greatest unsung heroes.

While there are many, one lesson kneed me in the gut.

Picture this: a slave desperate to learn guitar begs his master for lessons.

Reluctant, but willing, the master tries to discourage his slave.

Smirking, he lays out what he thinks is a trap…

$3 for the first lesson.

$2 for the next.

$1 after that, and 25 cents for the last.

The slave’s reply is PURE GENIUS.

Let’s just say he strummed his first song for a quarter.

He outfoxed the bastard at his own game.

I'll tell ya the exact words he used to get his way on the workshop.

By accident.

The takeaway: As shitty as the situation was, the slave created his own

opportunity.

He made a deal.

He did it from nothing.

All disadvantages.

He had to figure out how to make do with the $hit cards he was dealt.

This isn't what you might think of when you think hidden opportunity.

But it was.

Opportunities like this are everywhere.

The job is to find’em.

Fortunately, slavery is long dead in America, but...
