Ever gave away your best advice for free, only to see it ignored?

Yeah, me too.

It’s frustrating AF.

That’s why I stopped doing it.

Valuable advice exchanged for nothing is not valuable to anyone.

It’s more like charity.

They beg.

You give.

Goodwill granted.

It’s weaponized guilt and a failed opportunity.

People that don’t pay don’t do anything with the advice they don’t pay for.

They’d nod, smile, and stay stuck.

But, those willing to pay…

They’re better primed for action.

Definitely better to work with.

Today, I charge for personalized advice.

That way it remains valuable.

At that moment I’m asked for my advice…

It’s an opportunity to see how valuable it is to them.

People that aren’t willing to pay…

What are they REALLY saying?

“I dig your thoughts on matters like this, but look…

I have a problem that’s important to me.

You seem to know a lot about this stuff.

You have experience.

I suspect you have the answer I need that can get me the outcome I’m after.

I want your help with this.

But, listen...

I don’t wanna pay you for it because, after all… it’s just advice.

It’s valuable, but not enough to pay you for it.”

To be clear...

I’m not a transactional person, but I understand the value of transactions.

It’s a paradox.

Paying flips a switch: from “that’s nice to know” to “I need to use this.”
