The Death of SEO?
Dec 11, 2024 3:25 pm
Hi ,
I rolled my eyes the first time I read it…
“S.E.O. is dead.”
Riiiight!
Like everything marketing that dies…
Half of it is plain bullsh!t…
The rest of it serves as preparation H for the next thing they’re gonna try stick ya with.
Thing is…
S.E.O. really does feel….
I dunno…
Antiquated?
Backlinks, blog posts, meta data…
At one point, all were necessary evils if you wanted to get found online.
Today?
Not so much.
Thank goodness.
I hate all that sh!t anyway.
Some people fap to that pretty hard.
I’m not knockin’ it.
I’m just glad it’s not something people have to concern themselves with much anymore.
Why?
A.I. Search.
You have to learn how to use the bots to help you get found.
And right now…
It’s not clear who the winner is gonna be.
The incumbent, Big G?
Or OpenAI or Perplexity?
Grok ain’t nothing to sleep on either.
In fact, for me, whenever I have a question, my first go-to platform to get an answer is X.
Speaking of questions…
We do searches for answers.
Unlike Google in the past…
We’re all looking for THE answer.
Not a bunch of possible answers.
That presents both new dilemmas and new opportunities.
The dilemmas?
I’m willing to bet a lot of people are about to get dumber and dumber as they come to rely on something else to think for them.
Lack of critical thinking is what makes one susceptible to Trojan attack issues.
Problems that not only slip past defenses…
They’re welcomed in with open legs.
The opportunities?
A chance to feed the A.I.’s useful answers.
Hence…
Answer Engine Optimization.
Ay-yo!
What up, A.E.O.?
So how do you do it?
Feed the interactive social platforms.
Every platform is trying to self-contain.
They’re trying to keep you there.
Sure, they’ll all pilfer from each other, but for the most part, they’re trying to do what they can to keep the users siloed.
Keep them coming back.
Stay recurring useful.
To do that, they need to become entrenched in your life.
Habit.
It used to be they did that solely with user-generated content.
Not anymore.
With A.I. it’s more user-inspired and derived content.
With A.I. we’re all d.j. remix and matching stuff that came before.
None of it quite original.
All of it revealing.
The algorithms see what folks respond to.
Likes, comments, reshares…
That’s not the only type of engagement, but the stuff most of us care about, too…
Subscribes, clicks, opt-ins, and buys.
The key though is it’s also looking for evidence of real user engagement.
People interactions.
What good is a bot service serving up bot content to uncaring bots?
Nah, the key is weaving this stuff in with stuff people interact with.
It HAS to appeal to humans.
For humans are the ones who want and buy things.
Humans are the ones who feel things.
The bots are better at intelligently pushing those buttons.
They manipulate emotion without any of their own.
Where this will all likely take place is anyone’s guess, but…
I have my suspicions.
I suspect everyone’s got their eyes on video platforms like TikTok and Youtube.
For me?
I’m putting my focus somewhere else I see as less crowded.
More on that next time.
For now…
