The Utah road trip

What is your favorite genre for reading? Do you have more than one? Let me know.

The trip to Moab was a blast.

In Blanding, we stopped at the visitor's center and were directed to some books in which we read about my great, great grandfather and Posey's War. It wasn't much of a war, but it was an exciting and sad story. We also read about old Sheriff Bill Oliver's tragic end. Earlier we stopped in Kanab and visited the Little Hollywood Museum. The main attraction there was the adobe house from The Outlaw Josey Wales. Fun fact: It's not adobe. It's a much lighter substance. The best part of the trip was spending time with my dad and my son, but some of the views were pretty fantastic.

On the writing front, The Shrinking Zone nears completion. It is set in the Idaho desert near where I grew up. I have made a few adjustments to some of the desert features as well as some particular properties. The desert itself has become a character of sorts in the tale. I'll tell you more about it next month.

Let me introduce you to another author: A.F. Stewart

Ghosts of the Sea Moon: A Dark Epic Fantasy Adventure (Saga of the Outer Islands Book 1)

In the Outer Islands, gods and magic rule the ocean.

Rafe is the God of Souls. His sister, Manume, is the Goddess of the Moon. Their battle will decide the fate of the living and the dead.

Banished from his ancestral home for showing favour to mortals, Rafe sails the seas as the captain of the Celestial Jewel. Caught between two worlds, the mortals and the gods, he exists as a wayward saviour collecting the ghosts of drowned sailors before they can be devoured by malicious sea monsters.

An insane Manume wreaks havoc from the Isle of Bones, sending her monster children out into the world to unleash destruction. Heedless of the consequences, she now seeks greater revenge, and her violent actions put everyone in peril.

To end his sister’s madness, and protect the mortal realm, Rafe must confront his past and his estranged family. He must persuade them to help, convince them that the Goddess of the Moon is a true threat. For Manume has become more powerful than anyone could have predicted, and he's not sure he can stop her. And if Rafe can't, the entirety of existence could be destroyed.
