Disdain and loathing for a fictional character

Aug 15, 2022 6:13 pm

Who is your least favorite fictional character? What provokes your disdain and loathing for the character? If it's one of my characters, don't hesitate to tell me.

So I survived the professional training conference but I didn't get much--hardly any--writing done during that time (but I am writing this on the last night of the conference). On the positive side, I rode the motorcycle and accomplished a memorable feat in that I successfully hauled fast food (including a soft drink and a shake on two different occasions on the bike without spilling a drop).

I have finished reading Cornwell's Excalibur. I didn't think it was as good as The Winter King, the first book in the trilogy. Although reading the second book in the series probably would have increased my appreciation for the third book, I don't think it would have changed my opinion that Excalibur was better.

Something fun is coming up shortly. I'll send a bonus email so that you can enter the six author, five book give-away organized by DJ Butler--otherwise known as a prince among men and a scholar among writers. Look for the email in a week or two.

The two give-aways included in the previous letter are still live. Here are the links in case you didn't get to them yet.

Oh - I'll be doing my own autographed copy give-away of one book in September. More about that in the September newsletter--so be watching for it.

If you would like to wade through some interesting quotes, you'll get to a brief report on the state of the novel in progress -- you'll find it here.

Thank you, Budd, for a fine review of Clamorous Harbingers!
