The May Give-away

May 13, 2021 1:45 am

Friends, Readers, Countrymen,

Lend me your ears. I'm giving away, that's right, giving away free copies of two of my ebooks and offering two others at only 99 cents each. I'll tell you more about that below.

If you could choose one experience or moment to never forget, that you would be able to recall and savor in detail at any moment, what would that memory be?

I ask because I had an unexpected memory attack -- not one of the type I'm inquiring about, but it did make me wonder about cherished memories.

This morning (the 10th when I wrote this), for no apparent reason, my thoughts turned to a barber, or hair stylist that I used to know in France when I was there. I hadn't thought about him in years. He was an extremely nice man and gave me free haircuts at his shop back in 1984. I only had to tip the stylist who actually did the work. Thoughts lead to actions. I emailed a friend in France from 1984 with whom we had visited when we went there in 2017. I asked if she remembered the man and if she could tell me whatever happened to him. She remembered.

I wasn't prepared for her response. The man and his wife were killed in a car wreck in la foret de Compiegne in 1988. All these years I had imagined him running his salon and eventually retiring. So now I'm sad--it's more than 30 years after the fact, but I'm still saddened by it.

On a happier note, my daughter and her husband recently visited before they made the trip to their new abode in Texas. They've left and have arrived at the new place in Texas now.

But as I was saying, I have a give-away. A no-strings-attached give-away. The Fabulous 5 days in May. I'm not doing it just because Dave Butler's birthday is this month, but that could be a factor.

As loyal newsletter subscribers, you're the only people I'm telling about this stupendous event. You, however, may tell whomever you wish about it. I encourage you to do so, and also to encourage others to sign up for my newsletter at

Here's the deal: Threading the Rude Eye and Power to Hurt will be free for 5 days - from May 15 to May 19. You can go to Amazon and download both books for free. Additionally, Clamorous Harbingers and the newly released Promise of Carnage and Flame are only 99 cents each during these five days. After that, the prices will go back up. If you like action adventure and fantasy, you'll love these flintlock fantasy books.

Here's a link to the series on Amazon. If you click the link and buy the books, I do get a portion of the proceeds -- they are my books, after all.

Remember, that's May 15 through May 19 - and I'm telling no one but my subscribers. You may share the news, and encourage your friends to subscribe.

Oh. One more thing. I'm likely to put a book on Kindle Vella. Have you heard about Vella, and what do you think about it? Are you likely to read anything there?
