Ever sold something online?

If you haven't, I bet it's something you've wanted to do for years.

If you already have, don't worry, this email won't be a waste of time because I'll show you THE EASIEST way to make money online -- without exchanging your time for a handful of dollars.

Onward.

Last week we talked about validating your idea and finding product-market fit.

Now I'll show you how exactly to start making money online, step-by-step.

Of course it's hard to get rich online -- it's also hard to get rich offline. But this is not just about getting rich, it's about making your first $$$ online... and you won't believe how easy it is.

I'll give you my own example.

In the first quarter of last year (the much-dreaded 2020), I had no work, no income, no idea why I'm having a hard time landing clients, and guess what -- I was PISSED OFF!

So instead of spending 7 hours per day on Upwork being miserable, I decided to reduce that to 3 hours in the afternoon and write an eBook for 4 hours in the morning.

It did take me a few weeks to complete the project and it didn't make any money at first, but the entire endeavor was really satisfying. I finally had a purpose again.

How much money did it make?

It was roughly €0.20-0.30 per month while it was exclusively on Amazon. Then I put it AppSumo Marketplace and started making around €15 every month. I also started selling on Gumroad recently -- no sales yet.

In total, I earned $99.89 from selling that eBook. It's not exactly like I found oil in the backyard, but it's not bad for my first info product.

Anyway enough about me, let's talk about how you can do the same and potentially make much more money.

There are 2 very simple ways. The first one is to do what I did -- take a few days or weeks to create something and then try to sell it. It can be a short eBook, a mini video course or a template for something.

Really simple, anyone can do it.

However, I want you to consider a better way of doing this, which will probably make you more money.

And that includes an additional step before you start building. Like we talked about last week, you should try to validate your idea first. And here is exactly how to do that.

Step #1

Go to your network and ask them what they would buy from you, aka what you could create for them. 'Network' may sound intimidating, so think of it as simply asking friends, family, coworkers or whoever.

What's that? You're embarassed to sell or even ask people you know closely? My advice is to just get over it. If you can't sell to your mom, how do you expect to sell to the average Joe Shmo who doesn't give a shit about you or your feelings?

Step #2

Create a list of stuff people want you to create for them. Does anything from the list sound like fun for you to do? If it does, do it. If not, come up with a better idea.

The important thing is to pick something -- anything -- and go on to the next step. You're simply trying to make your first cash online, not build the next Google.

Step #3

Try to sell before you actually start creating it. Tell people in your network what you're creating and ask them to pre-order. They can send you money via PayPal, give you cash or whatever... it doesn't matter how they pay you.

Even if you get just a few sales, go to step #6. If not, go to step #4.

Step #4

No luck with preorders? Create an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and/or a simple sales page. An MVP can be as simple as a preview.

If it's an eBook, your MVP can be the title and the outline. If it's a video course, it's can be an intro + overview video. You get the idea.

Step #5

Now try to sell it again, you should have more luck. If you still get no sales, don't fret.

You can go back to step #2 and pick a different product. Or if you're stubborn like me, you can simply build what you chose first and worry about selling later.

Step #6

Finally, it's time to create the product.

This could take as little as a few hours or as long as a couple weeks. But try to limit yourself to 2 weeks max, especially if this is your first online product.

Step #7

Deliver the finished product to people who preordered. Don't forget to ask them for reviews & testimonials, which you can use when selling to others.

Step #8

Start selling to others. You can list your product on Amazon, AppSumo Marketplace, Gumroad and many other platforms -- it depends on what you're selling.

The good thing with AppSumo is that they'll promote your product for you. Heck, I often see their ad on Facebook that promote my eBook. Let me say that again, they're spending money to promote my eBook to me... how cool is that?

Gumroad is also great. You can create an entire sales page in less than 30 minutes and they only take an 8% cut from any sales you make.

BONUS

If you have any pre-orders, you can use that to your advantage. Give them the product first, ask them for reviews, testimonials, and feedback on how to improve it.

Then go on and actually improve the product based on that feedback. After doing that, go start selling to others.

Epilogue

That's it, this is how you can easily make money within weeks -- or even days -- of starting the project.

Sounds simple? That's because it is simple!

I just need you to remember one thing before you go on with your day.

Did you notice how I talked about creating a product and not about freelancing? That was on purpose. Because you'll never get rich by renting out your time for money, aka living on the paycheck.

If you don't want to work till the day you die, you'll have to find a way to make money while you sleep.

That can be via selling info products online, running a business or investing. And you know what? It's important that you push yourself to do this. Because starting a side hustle is even harder if you have a nice, 'stable' job.

Nassim Taleb put it best:

The three most harmful addictions are heroin, carbohydrates, and a monthly salary. You won't get rich working for someone else.

See you around,

Filip

P. S. I am thinking about writing more about experiments and projects I am doing on my own. Stuff like not eating meat, not drinking alcohol, learning a new language and running different business/investing projects. Are you interested in reading about that? Hit 'reply' and let me know!
