Do you regret not having more fun?

When is the last time you did something fun?

I certainly hope it was today... because if we're not having fun, what the hell are we doing on this planet?

It doesn't have to be partying-till-the-morning-and-drinking-litres-of-alcohol kind of fun. Anything you really like to do is fair game.

That can be learning about cryptocurrencies, working on your own projects, listening to the History of Rome podcast to fall asleep or going on a weekend trip with friends.

Everyone defines 'fun' differently, HOWEVER...

It is generally better to DO, rather than CONSUME -- these are different kinds of fun but both have their place in your life.

Stuff you can do:

  • Play songs on a guitar
  • Go on a weekend trip
  • Exercise at a gym

Stuff you can consume:

  • Read a book
  • Watch TV series
  • Go through online courses

Both can be fun & useful but generally, doing rather than consuming will make you feel happier in the long run.

That's why I have recently been trying to shift my focus and do more fun stuff instead of consume. Is this easy? Hell no! But it's worth it.

Anyway, whatever is fun for you to do, you probably need to do more of it.

Why do I say that? Because I almost never regret stuff I do -- it is always the stuff I don't do. Do you feel the same, ?

For example, even 5 years later, I still regret not going to 2 of friends' birthday parties because I 'had to study' for school. (Granted, both were in another country, but still.)

And just last summer, I didn't go on a 3-day trip because I 'needed to work'. A week later, the guys I sacrificed for cut my salary in half. Fuck that! (If you wonder what happened, of course I quit as soon as I could.)

That's when I fully realized you need to take care of yourself and be in charge of your own happiness. If you let others do it, you're screwed.

So what I am trying to say is: Have fun while you can -- life goes by too fast.

ACTION ITEM: Hit the 'reply' button and tell me what fun stuff you will do today... it's Saturday for God's sake!

See you around,

Filip
