How does making $10,000/month sound to you?

,

How fun would it be if you made $10,000 every single month?

You could live wherever you want, drive almost any car money can buy and provide for your family without any problems. In short, it would be awesome, right?

If you had asked me this question barely a year ago, I would've said, "YES! Give me $10k a month and I'll do any job for you!" (within the boundaries of law, of course).

In fact, near the end of last year, I was writing down goals for 2021... and among many others, one of the goals was to raise my income to $10,000 per month. And I was serious about it -- I wanted to raise my income to $10k before this year ends, but...

Some time last month, I realized I don't really care that much about making a specific amount of money every month. Especially if I have to work 7 or more hours per day, 6 days per week. Because I really do feel like a 40-hour (or more) work week is modern-day slavery. (Even Naval Ravikant said this!)

I'd much rather earn $4k-$5k, work 20ish hours per week and actually live a life outside work. Don't know about you but this sounds much more appealing to me than slaving away every day for a bit more money.

"Cut the crap, Filip... what's the point in all this?"

The point is that I've given up on my goal of making $10k/month this year.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still like to make that kind of money. But I don't want to sacrifice my lifestyle and work like a slave just to make a few thousand dollars more.

Because I work to live; I don't live to work. (read this again)

Anyway, I am telling you this because you too should consider giving up on goals. Stop laughing , I'm serious!

In fact, I'll help you do this. Here's how:

Step #1

List out goals you have or things you want to do, but somehow never get to do them. These can be things you're constantly saying you want to do or 'should' do.

Maybe it's learning French, losing weight, visiting that cool city, waking up early or opening an investment account -- whatever.

Step #2

Take a look at the list. If there's anything you really want to do, start doing it by the end of next week (ideally today).

If you don't start soon, you'll probably never do it anyway and it will keep bothering you that you still haven't done it.

Step #3

Give up on all things you didn't start doing within 7 days. It will feel liberating, believe me.

And that's it -- you cleared your brain's RAM with only a few minutes of work. Good job!

Now take a minute to reply to this email and tell me which goals you'll give up on... or simply tell me I'm an idiot for giving up on anything. Whatever you feel like about this topic!

See you around,

Filip

P. S. Do I feel like a failure for giving up on goals? I did at first but I don't anymore. If anything, I feel liberated. Because it's more important to me to not feel like a slave than to make an arbitrary amount of money.

This goes for any other goal too. If you really want to do it, do it. If not, give up on it without feeling guilty or a failure... because you know it's not what you really want. Cheers!
