How to capitalize on a de-dollarized future?
Apr 27, 2023 11:06 am
As you will see in international news, countries are starting to transact and settle debts outside of the US dollar...
- Brazil and China have agreed to trade goods without using the US dollar as an intermediary currency.
- The Reserve Bank of India has launched the International Settlement of Trade in Indian Rupee mechanism to enable the use of the Indian Rupee as a reserve currency for global trade.
- Dumping the Dollar: Will a new BRICS currency replace the US currency for trade?
- Saudi Arabia sells oil to China, payment made in the yuan.
- The BRICS countries are working on establishing a new reserve currency based on a basket of currencies of the five-nation bloc.
- South Africa, which currently holds the rotating BRICS presidency, wants to bypass the US dollar and create a fairer payment system not skewed toward wealthier countries.
- Will Russia sanctions dethrone ‘King Dollar’?
These are just some quotes I pulled this week.
It’s a monumental moment in time. We are witnessing the end of the USD as the world's reserve currency and a massive change in the zeitgeist.
Do I think it’s going to happen overnight?
No, but the writing is on the wall. Countries worldwide are waking up to what’s going on and will not allow themselves to be taken advantage of any longer.
I think it’s important for any savvy investor with a global outlook to have exposure to the BRICS countries, with Brazil being the obvious choice as an expat.
But we must be very careful how we play it and ensure an investment there makes sense on multiple levels…
On May 6th, I will be doing a big workshop presentation with my colleagues that are based out of Brazil. They are experienced real estate developers with no debt, a proven track record, and over 3,000 projects delivered on Brazil's northeastern coast.
They are the ones to speak to about Brazilian investment-grade real estate.
Here are the details for our workshop:
- Date: May 6th, 2023
- Time: 11am Central / 12pm Eastern
- Cost: Free for Expat Money subscribers
- Registration: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_mozS4XKPQG6C9ZxFm3nL7Q
The plan is to have several in-depth presentations and loads of time for Q&A to make it really interactive. This is an excellent opportunity to discover if Brazil makes sense in your portfolio of international investments or not.
Hope to see you there,
Mikkel
PS. We always max out our workshops. If this one interests you, I highly recommend taking 10 seconds and registering your interest now
