Viewed Location For The Birthday Bash

Feb 06, 2023 9:24 pm

We spent the weekend out of Panama City and drove up to the location where we will be having my big birthday bash.

My friend is the CEO of the largest property development company in the country and has purchased 5km of beachline on Panama’s Pacific coast.

This property is insane, it’s just over an hour away from the City, and it’s pristine and underdeveloped.

And since it’s on the Pacific coast, there is excellent surfing there.

I was actually going to take my daughter out for surf lessons this weekend with an instructor (although I know how to surf and have surfed in a bunch of countries, I wouldn’t know how to teach someone else how to do it).

There was a miscommunication with timing or something, and it didn’t end up happening, but for sure in the future, I will take her out.

Anyways, the location for the party is going to be amazing. There are a couple of hundred units already built and a fun restaurant right on the beach.

We had a few meetings while we were there and finalized all the details.

I will not tell you everything because I want some things to remain a surprise…

...but I can say that we will have a pig roast on the coals, a live band AND a DJ, and a premium open bar and tons of food prepared by a famous Argentine chef.

Plus, we will be doing activities (for adults and kids) and a huge bonfire on the beach. I was also promised an amazing sunset. Last year’s sunset on my birthday was spectacular, so let’s see if we can beat it.

My friend organized for us to stay in a villa right on the beach, and the staff even loaded the fridge with gluten-free beer from Spain because he mentioned to them I am a celiac.

Little things that show attention to detail impress me.

Side note: when I was in Jamaica a few weeks ago, I must have been asked 30 times if I had any dietary restrictions, and I told them every time that I am celiac, and not one staff member even acknowledged it or let me know options open to me that wouldn’t make me sick.

It’s interesting; every weekend in Panama, the City empties out, and everyone heads to the beach, especially right now in the dry season and when the weather is amazing. So developments like my friends are super popular and can demand great rental returns.

And if you are thinking about going out there on a holiday weekend like Carnival, Mother's Day, or pretty much the entire month of November, then they are booked out months in advance.

Johnny Bravo (yes, that really is his real name), the property manager there, told us the villas are already being booked for New Year's Eve, which is still 11 months out!

I think the investment opportunities out there are going to be substantial, and I can imagine when the whole area is developed over the next 20 years what the places will be worth.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the party on March 18th; it's going to be loads of fun!
