What Do You Call Someone Who Bullies Old People?

Jun 02, 2025 11:26 am

I hate bullies, I always have and I always will.

They abuse for fun, steal from the weak without an ounce of thought, and go about their days with zero thought regarding the consequences of their actions.

Oh, and bullies that go after senior citizens? Well, that’s just a special kind of despicable…

I recently read this story about Richard and Jane Brown, a retired British couple, who thought they were safe.

The Browns retired to Spain, paid their UK pension taxes under a double taxation treaty, and then moved back home to the UK after seven years.

Then, out of nowhere, Spain drops a nearly £10,000 bombshell for taxes they claim are owed.

No explanation, just a bill with interest piled on for a debt they never knew about!

They played by the rules, hired a specialist to handle their paperwork, and still got hit

Now Jane is caring for her husband after a stroke he suffered, and now has to wrestle with this nightmare, which could drag on for years if they appeal.

Do you think that bureaucrats ever think about what happens when they use the tools of the state to just mess with people?

Or do you think they go to bed every night without a care in the world?

Oh, wait, bullies never cared to begin with…so why start now?

This is why you can’t trust the system to even play by its own rules.

Governments like Spain’s will chase your money across borders, years after you’ve left, just because you made the mistake of living there for a few years.

I’ve seen it too many times: hardworking folks blindsided by bureaucrats who see expats as easy targets.

While Spain is certainly a lovely place to visit, there are many reasons that Spain is not a place you want to live, especially as an expat.

In fact, this is a growing trend among European countries, many of which appear to be becoming increasingly hostile to expats.

Portugal, once a darling of digital nomads and retirees, has gutted its Non-Habitual Tax Residency program.

The UK? They’ve scrapped non-dom status entirely, punishing expats who once sought to live there specifically to utilize the non-dom regime.

And with the EU pushing for tighter oversight of wealth, capital, and citizenship-by-investment programs, the message is clear: if you’ve built something, they want their cut.

Bullies don’t care; they do what they want.

So what can you do about a bully?

The best thing you can do is accept them for who they are, put as much space between them and you as possible, and achieve success in spite of them.

Let them wallow in their misery and self-abuse; the biggest revenge is living your best life possible.

If you’re ready to come up with a bully-proof Plan-B, read this important letter.
