The joys of being dyslexic...

Dear Reader,

If you have heard my story before, either on my podcast or being interviewed on one of the nearly 200 appearances on other podcasts, blogs, or live on stage, then you probably have heard me tell my experience with dyslexia and being removed from my neighbourhood school to attend a special class for 3 years.

When I was a child, they classified me as "gifted with a learning disability", they tested my IQ and I came in at the mid-140s, so certainly not stupid, but I had a form of dyslexia which made reading, writing and spelling, extremely challenging for me.

So much so that I left school when I was 12 years old.

Yes, you might think it's strange that someone who has had so much trouble with writing in his life decided to become a professional author...

But I hope you try and look at it in a different light; here is a guy who had a horrendous experience through school, was told he was broken and there was something wrong with him every day for years on end and he decided to push through anyway, to travel the world and try and help other people do the same.

This morning I sent out an email to a select group of my list, if you got it you probably saw a spelling mistake in there. I always use a paid version of Grammarly as well as the built-in spell check that comes with my Brave browser, on top of that, I usually have Susan (who you probably know by now), proofread my work before I send it out.

But lots of times I get inspired to work very late at night and there is no one around to triple-check my work. To me, when I am writing it and reading it multiple times over, it looks correct.

However, there might be an error I just cannot see.

This is just part of the package folks, a real-life human.

Talk soon,

Mikkel
