Colombia - Residency, Business and Real Estate Purchases

I first went to Colombia back in 2003.
My friends and I had chartered a private yacht with a crew and took a week to sail through the San Blas Islands from Panama to Cartagena, Colombia.
This was after nearly a year of hitchhiking and backpacking through Southern USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.
I really had no idea what to expect when I arrived in Colombia. Technically, we had the internet back then, but it certainly was not what is today. And anyway, we didn't have the habit of researching a place online before we went.
So pretty much I would just show up in a country, meet some locals at a cafe or restaurant and start asking questions about where to go or what to see.
Anyways, I ended up falling in love with Colombia. It was so different than any other country I had been to by that point in my life. I ended up staying for two months exploring every corner of the country, and if I had a visa to stay longer, I would have continued on.
Over the years, I have been back to Colombia, and I am always so impressed with the people and natural beauty of the country.
A few years ago, I was speaking on stage at an offshore event and got connected with the CEO of a Family Office based out of Medellin, Colombia.
Meeting him re-sparked my interest in Colombia as an expat destination, and when I took my family to Colombia last year on a business trip, I visited their office and got together with their team a couple of times to discuss things.
One of the founders of their company, and the Chief Legal Officer, Juan Guiterrez, will be speaking at this year's Expat Money Summit to discuss Colombia Residency, Business, and Real Estate Purchases in the country.
This promises to be an excellent conversation with a world-class expert on everything of interest to expats looking at Colombia.
