Lives Saved Means Lives Saved, Period

Believe it or not, especially on the Internet, people will often make claims without actually having any knowledge or background in the things they talk about.
I know – shocking, right?
Jokes aside, I see people getting into it across my various social media accounts and our private Facebook group, especially whenever the word “Trump” is invoked.
Case in point, the podcast reviews that came in after our post-election podcast brought out all sorts of remarks about me allegedly jockeying for Trump or hosting a ‘right-wing’ show.
This is nothing new to me since being a libertarian and sticking with your first principles often gets you accused of being some cheerleader for the “left” or “right” based on the crowd you’ve upset that day.
One of the bigger points I made from that episode, which most critics ignored, was my enduring hope that under a second Trump administration, all the bloody, unnecessary conflicts throughout the world could calm down or even end completely.
Not a single anti-war critic can say with a straight face that Biden remotely did anything to maintain global peace; that is simply not debatable.
However, this recent situation regarding the release of hostages and the ceasefire brokered between Hamas and Israel is an interesting case to examine to see who is truly pro-peace or just a partisan talking head.
If you read one article, then it was Trump who intervened even before taking the Oath of Office who helped facilitate their release. If you read another, then it was Joe Biden who ultimately brought them home.
My take? I don’t care who brokered this deal; I don’t think the hostages do either. If anything, I think they’re thanking God they’re alive and finally going home to their families.
Ultimately, peace is the prize and preservation of life is what I am after. Who cares who gets credit for it?
When lives are at stake, we should always hope for a peaceful outcome regardless of which “side” is responsible for it.
Speak soon,
Mikkel
