In the real world, waiting always costs more

Jan 09, 2026 12:06 pm

Most people don’t avoid important decisions because they’re careless or irresponsible.

…they avoid them because they’re thoughtful.

They want more information.

They want to understand better.

They want to be sure they’re making the right move at the right time.

On the surface, that sounds reasonable.

Smart, even.

But after doing this work for years and watching how policies, programs, and jurisdictions evolve in real time, I’ve learned something most people only realize in hindsight…

Waiting doesn’t freeze the world in place.

It just lets the world keep moving… without you.

Very rarely do things stay exactly as they are long enough for perfect clarity to arrive.

Instead, changes tend to happen under the radar, with little clear advance warning.

That’s exactly what we’re seeing right now with St. Kitts & Nevis.

For years, many families and investors viewed a Caribbean CBI (citizenship-by-investment) as something they could revisit later, and St. Kitts' offering is (or at least was) one of the simplest and most straightforward of the bunch.

The pathway felt established, and the assumption was simple: “when I’m ready, it’ll still be there”.

…that assumption is being tested.

For years, I’ve spoken to families and investors who liked the idea of a St. Kitts CBI, but didn’t act diligently to secure it.

They understood the benefits.

They just didn’t act.

…and now the rules are changing.

St. Kitts & Nevis has announced upcoming changes to its CBI program, including new physical residency requirements.

…and while this might not affect everyone (those who already have their CBI are in the clear), it absolutely affects the core assumption people make when they delay:

If I wait, I’ll still be able to do the same thing later.

That assumption is just plain wrong.

Waiting means friction, higher costs, and greater complexity… if the option even still exists at all.

Now, those who waited have a much more difficult path to landing a seriously great option for themselves and their families.

Every year you wait, you’re betting that the system you want to capitalize on will remain as flexible tomorrow as it is today.

That’s NOT a bet I’m willing to make with my family.

…and it’s not one I recommend you make with yours.

The St. Kitts CBI program update is just another reminder that the world doesn’t wait for readiness…

…it rewards swift action.

Speak soon,

Mikkel

PS. Every single year, programs change, doors narrow, and people tell me, “I didn’t think this would happen.” If you’re done waiting for the “perfect time” and want to build a real Plan-B, while you still have a variety of solid options on the table, that’s exactly what we do inside First Class. We execute. The next cohort of First Class kicks off next month, and it is the LAST COHORT AT THE CURRENT RATE. If you want in, fill out this application and schedule a call with Melissa by clicking this highlighted text here. If you wait until next time, you'll pay more; it's that simple.

PPS. While we’re on the subject of waiting…ticket prices for the 2026 Wealth, Freedom and Passports Conference rise tomorrow (January 10th). Secure your spot today, and I hope to see you down in Panama, March 6-7.
