I went to Boquete this weekend, here is what I learned

Saturday morning I flew up to Boquete with my wife and a buddy who is a real estate community developer.
It’s a short flight from Panama City into the highlands here, maybe an hour or even less.
We flew from Tocumen, the major airport which is around 15 min from my penthouse.
It’s been years since I have flown domestically, I fly internationally almost every month, but domestic was so simple that I thought we had missed a check-point or something and I started worrying we were going to get in trouble lol.
We checked in from our phone the night before which took 20 seconds, no complex health declaration or anything like that, and when we went to the airport we just showed a screenshot on our phone and our cedula (Panama national ID card) and we were through security, all that was left was to go through the x-ray and we were at the departure gate, since there was only one flight leaving there was hardly anyone there and we were through it all in about 1 min.
So easy.
Anyways, we were flying Copa, the national airline here, straight to David then rented a car and drove up to Boquete about 30 min away.
We spent the next 36 hours exploring the area and getting a feel for it as an option for expats.
Some insights…
Yes, there are already tons of expats living in the area, mostly retirees because of the low cost of living and the cooler climate (you are at a surprisingly high elevation), and of course the stunning views of the volcanos and the canyons.
We didn’t see any really good communities or neighbourhoods, it seemed like the majority of the people lived in older homes that were completely separated from everyone else and some were really beaten up or damaged by the elements.
I think the area is stunning, but for what I have in mind we will need to build something from scratch.
With everything that is happening in the world, the only option is a large self-sustaining community built from scratch, or even better, many communities built from scratch around the globe.
Somewhere based on libertarian values with peace, prosperity and independence at its core.
It’s bringing together a lifetime of work.
Anyways, I do not want to spoil too many of the surprises but let's just say there will be a ton of things coming out this year and we will REALLY dig into new communities at this year’s Expat Money Summit, you can grab a free ticket here:
