My Mission In Life

Dec 16, 2021 5:01 pm

I am very blessed.

I am fortunate and very lucky.

But I can't say that I always felt that way.

You know, dropping out of school and being told that there's something wrong with your brain as a child by the people who are supposed to protect you and care for you…

It's kind of a messed-up situation.

So I did have difficulty getting over that as a teenager, I grew up thinking there was something wrong with me, that my thoughts and ideas and who I was, was a bad person.

Not a pleasant time in my life.

It's been 20+ years and now I'm very proud of myself for doing those types of things. For standing up and saying this doesn’t work for me. For peacefully removing myself from the situation.

Even though they were monumentally hard.

But most kids don’t get to do this. They are stuck and most teachers don’t listen.

I was really fortunate when I left school and found travelling when I was a teenager, I mean I can't even say it changed my life. It’s who I am.

There is no Mikkel Thorup without travelling, everything in my life revolves around travelling and being an expat. I host a podcast about it. I wrote a number one best-selling book about it. I have a newsletter about it. I have a private group about it. I speak on-stage about it. I consult with clients about it…

I mean this is all and everything I do, and after 21 years, I'm still excited about it. I'm still so pumped to write to you today about it, just like I was in the early days.

And I know this sounds cliche, but I jump out of bed in the morning so stoked that I get to help people travel, live abroad and legally starve the beast ;)

It’s my purpose in life, I'm actively going out there trying to find ways to help people accomplish this.

It’s why I started the Expat International School.

Over and over again working with my private clients, I heard complaints about the schooling situation for their children.

That there were no good options for their children.

So I decided to do something about it, plus, I don’t want what happened to me in school to happen to anyone else.

We are hosting a webinar tonight (Thursday) talking about how to raise your kids as entrepreneurs and what we do at the school to support this.

If you have children, grandchildren or even just interested in education and want to learn more about what we are doing and how you can help us grow, then feel free to register below, it’s completely free:

See you tonight,

Mikkel

PS. We will do a huge live Q&A as well, a great chance to speak with me and my business partner Michael Strong.
