How a WhatsApp Message Altered My Istanbul Immigration Plans
Jan 08, 2024 10:20 am
Well, I was supposed to be on an airplane last night to fly back to Istanbul to finalize my immigration process there; I booked the trip just a few weeks ago, and everything was fine...
13.5-hour direct flight to Istanbul, 15 hours on ground, 22 hours flight home (including another cigar run in Havana).
But less than 24 hours before my flight, I got a WhatsApp message from my lawyer that the government had moved the goalpost again, and now the documents we have are no longer sufficient...
The government let the world know of the program changes via WhatsApp stories; no joke.
Now I need to gather a bunch more documents (from 3 different countries), have them legalized, apostilled, translated, and DHL them over to Turkey before I can come.
Plus, my wife now needs to make the journey together with me, so that's an additional $6,700 USD in airfare.
We need to change my flights, pickup, and hotel. I had to reschedule a week's worth of consulting clients' calls and move around a hundred other things to make this journey work in the first place.
Yes, I am pissed, so I am having a bit of a rant.
I suppose that's part of the value proposition when you work with me; I test all these things and can tell you what works and what doesn't.
At my company, we don't just write BS online like some of the copycats I see out there; we actually do boots-on-the-ground research and are constantly testing new things to see how things actually work.
I also don't pretend everything is easy... because it ain't...
If you want to see what really works and would rather let me be the guinea pig for you, then I suggest we have a chat to see how I can assist:

Please be aware I am super picky about who I work with (no woke-socialists, please) and that my fees are not cheap for obvious reasons (I have spent millions of dollars testing these things out first-hand).
Let's make 2024 a great year,
Mikkel
