This is Why I Don’t Do Anything in Chile

Sadly, communist ideas are not limited to blue-haired cashiers (or potential NYC mayors, for that matter…).
In Chile, communist Jeannette Jara has secured the nomination of the Unity for Chile coalition.
Now, Chile’s current President Boric is a self-styled leftist in his own right, but Jara and her communist coalition would attempt to push policies even farther left.
Whether Chile goes “full commie” this November remains to be seen, but the rise of communist sentiments in any country is disturbing to say the least.
The fact that a full-fledged communist can get this much support is a stark reminder of why, despite having much love and respect for Chile, I do not invest there or recommend it as a Plan-B residency.
Chile’s drift towards communism is reason enough for many to steer clear; their steep taxes and lengthy resident requirements make it an easy “no” for me.
That said, Chile does have an excellent passport, which is one of the main reasons we chose to have our third child there through birth tourism.
This is similar to how I view Argentina’s recently announced CBI: great passport to have, but not a place I’d recommend living or being a resident of at the present moment.
That said, Argentina—thanks to Javier Milei—is trending in a promising libertarian direction, which is more than I can say for Chile.
Speak soon,
Mikkel
PS. If you are, however, interested in obtaining Chilean citizenship for your future children, it does remain a great option for birth tourism. Birth tourism is a fantastic way for families to seek a brighter future for their children, and is one of the best ways to diversify the global mobility of your whole family. By working with my partners at My Birth Abroad, you’ll have a team of experts guiding you every step of the way, so you’ll never be alone. Learn more about My Birth Abroad here.
