Weekly Recap Of Everything Expat

Jul 23, 2021 3:01 pm

Dear Reader,

Lots going on for me at the moment, so I will just give you a quick update before sharing with you all the amazing content from this week...

As you probably know, in May my wife and I gave birth to our son here in Brazil. It was supposed to be a short 3-month trip down to give birth, get our residency through the Brazilian Family Reunification Visa, then get back to Panama where we have a home.

We figured with how hectic it can be to give birth that it would be better for our 5-year-old-daughter to stay in Panama with my Mother; she has all her toys and a huge place for her to run around, and would just be better for her.

Well, we are about to hit 5-months in Brazil and are still waiting for our appointment with the Federal Police to do our residency. It was supposed to take around 1 week but because of covid and bureaucracy, it is 2 months delayed.

So the other night I couldn’t take it anymore, I called my mother and asked her to pack a suitcase for her and my daughter and come on down to Brazil for the next month or so. I can’t be separated from my kid any longer. So that’s what they are doing. This weekend I get to see my daughter after 5 months and she gets to meet her new baby brother.

I am sure Murphy's Law will kick in and the day they will arrive will be the day we get our appointment with the Federal Police and get our visa haha (by the way, the appointment is only 60-minutes, they already have all our documents and everything, so once it is done we can leave).

Anyways, if you are dealing with bureaucratic governments or immigration issues trying to get your Plan-B in place, trust me, I can relate.

This week we did a ton of content…
