2025 Is Off To A Crazy Start...

Jan 06, 2025 1:51 pm

2025 is already off to a horrible start, particularly for my friends in the U.S.

As the dust settles on the events of New Year’s Day 2025, it’s impossible to ignore some of the troubling events that have gone down.

In New Orleans, a truck plowed into revellers on Bourbon Street, killing 14 and injuring 35 in a horrifying act of terrorism. Just hours later, in Las Vegas, an explosion outside the Trump International Hotel injured seven.

I certainly feel for the victims of these incidents and their families, and my condolences go out to anyone directly affected by these events.

The true motives and players behind these events will likely remain unknown, confined to the realm of “conspiracy theorists” - which nowadays is more a term used to describe people who can think for themselves and don’t just buy establishment propaganda hook, line and sinker.

I can’t help but think of something I discussed in our post-election episode of the Expat Money Show, where I predicted that things would not be made easy for Trump and that we’d likely see some planned chaos leading up to his inauguration.

These events, coupled with the Biden administration’s insistence on spending its last days escalating the war in Ukraine- including authorizing the use of ATACMS long-range missiles inside Russia - suggest I may have been onto something.

There’s a reason the majority of my new clients are still Americans, even with Trump’s victory providing some measure of short-term optimism.

People like you and I know that the long-term problems facing the U.S. government - a crippling 35 trillion dollar debt and trillions in unfunded liabilities - are too large to be solved by the four-year term of any one President, even under the best of circumstances.

And if the start of 2025 is any indication, this is going to be one bumpy ride.

Speak soon,

Mikkel
