On Thursday night, I am doing a webinar presentation with my friends Patrick and Ally from Eco Villages about an investment opportunity in agroforestry in Nicaragua.

So first, what the hell is agroforestry?

Well, most times, when people think about agricultural investments, they think about monoculture types like row crops, maybe corn, wheat, rye, barley, sorghum, etc.

Agroforestry, instead, is trees. 

In this case, there are two types involved in the investment: avocado trees that payout from the fruit (an avocado) and teak trees, which is a really special type of hardwood with a long growth cycle that’s used in things like decks and shipbuilding.

Nicaragua happens to be perfect for both of these types of trees.

But what makes this investment even more special than the potentially lucrative cash returns it could generate is that you can match a residency in Nicaragua with this investment.

This means you can invest in a hard, tangible asset, something you can see and touch, potentially be cash flow producing AND qualify for a residency in the country. 

You can use the residency to actually move to Nicaragua (it’s the legal right to live there)...

Or…

You can keep the residency in your back pocket in case things get worse and you need a place to escape to. 

Affordable residencies are harder and harder to come by. Governments worldwide are making the process stricter (or cancelling the programs altogether), and they are increasing the costs involved dramatically.

But this opportunity is still available at an affordable price…

… for now, at least.
