Happy Sunday EVERYONE!

What's up in this week's newsletter:

The Week Ahead

With only two full weeks left in summer, you could be of two minds - despondent and never wanting summer to end, or you can't wait to get back to routine

I am of both minds - and plan on hitting FULL STEAM ahead this week with our workouts but also taking time with my kids in the afternoons and evening as it is the last full week all three of us are together.

*** The news of the Ontario government ordering back to work full-time is stressful. As you know, I am a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and health coach. There are people I rarely see live, but I continually am looking to improve our community and make you feel connected. I will help EVERYONE program effectively through your work-life balance challenges.

The Pebble Theory - On Habits

Our habits and routine go out of whack in the summer. For me, I am best when I am in my Healthy Six - eating a protein/fiber rich diet, fasting nightly, drinking water, exercising in the right heart rates zones, and practicing mindfulness and recovery. I will get back

Right now, I am in summer mode.

Sound familiar?

We live in a time when it is easy to be obsessed - with how much protein, how many steps, whether our Oura ring tells us to take it easy. It's a wonderful time for bio-feedback and also overwhelming.

I read this today from Adam Bornstein - it is brilliant.

The Pebble Theory 2.0 by Adam Bornstein

We used to notice the lightness in our legs and the hunger in our lungs, and that was enough to know it was a good day to train. Now we check a recovery score and decide to rest because a number tells us so.

We used to know we were thriving when we moved often, ate well, and spent time with people we loved. Now we buy “biological age” tests that can’t actually tell us how long we’ll live.

We used to sharpen our thinking by reading, debating, and asking questions. Now we scroll for supplements promising genius in a capsule.

This isn’t a new problem — just a shinier one.

In every era, we’ve mistaken novelty for truth and progress. Dumbbells were once “dangerous.” Then, machines were “not functional.” Carbs were bad, then fat, then protein. The villains keep changing; the habit of chasing them never does.

Years ago, I wrote about moving boulders instead of pebbles — focusing on the big, obvious actions that create real change, instead of fussing over details that barely move the needle. It’s not that pebbles are worthless; it’s that most people spend their time rearranging them and wonder why the mountain never moves.

And the real trouble is, pebbles are seductive. They’re small, shiny, easy to hold. And technology has given us more of them than ever.

Technology has given us more pebbles than ever. Recovery scores. Macro calculators. DNA diets. There’s nothing inherently wrong with them — but chasing those numbers doesn’t replace the behaviors that matter.

For fall - focus on the progress YOU want to make
