Heya there!
I hope you're well. Weather's warming up, and that surely brightens the mood, right?
There are a couple of things I wanted to talk about today.
One of them is: Ignite Me is out! Hope you have the time to check it out. It was a cathartic experience to write Cinder. She's lost her father and death plagues her experiences now.
Last year, I found out I had a tumor. If it was a malignant tumor (which it wasn't), that meant cancer, and I had high chances of dying in the process because it was so rare. So as I got ready for the operation, I had to prepare myself for the idea of death.
Some nights, it froze me up with fear. I couldn't sleep. I wrote a will and left everything ready, including instructions with my husband to let you guys know what happened. I was so scared I got him scared, and he's usually a laidback person.
I read many books on the matter, and it took me a while to settle onto the same conclusion Cinder reaches by the end of the book. This one is very special to me, and I hope you like it.
The other thing I wanted to let you know is that Shifter Dating App: A Bundle is out, and I'm crossing my fingers you can download it and check it out. A reader asked me to bundle it up, but no one's reading it for some reason. 😞
Another thing I'd like to discuss is the review process. Do you know how reviews work on Amazon? I'm using this text written by Nicolas Lagrand to exemplify, and I think it's really important to discuss this.
5 ⭐️ This was great/good
This is the only rating that actually pushes authors towards more success, because of the messed up way that Amazon ratings work as I’ll explain below.
4 ⭐️ This was good/acceptable
This is still counted as a positive review, but as being below a 4.5 average reduces a book’s discoverability on ‘Zon, you could almost say this is a soft negative as it’s below that threshold.
3 ⭐️ Needs improvement/bad
This is outright considered a negative review by Amazon. Below a 4 star average, authors can’t even PAY to run ads for their books.
2 ⭐️ This was awful
It takes two 5s to get back to a 4 average.
1 ⭐️ This person should not ever be allowed to write a book again.
It unfortunately takes three fives just to offset a single 1 star review.
Many of us don't know about this, so I've read several reviews, both in my books and in other authors', where the reader gives the book a 3-stars review but writes "Amazing book, I loved it".
If you do like the book (not only mine but other authors'), please, consider giving 5-stars reviews. Sometimes it's even better if you don't leave a review on Amazon if you don't think the book was any good. Personally, when I don't like the book, I won't leave a review on Amazon, but on Goodreads. This way the author knows how I feel about it, but I won't ruin their chances of being discovered by other people (people that might even like what I didn't!).
That's that. Thanks for giving me some attention! There are some books down below for you to check out.
xx
