LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR OUR GOAL-SETTING

STRATEGY

The second strategy in goals setting is to:

Write Down Your Goals

Fitzhugh Dodson has this to say about writing down goals; "Goals that are not written down are just wishes.” I have been a victim of neglecting this rule but at the time I started utilizing it, things changed. Don’t delude yourself, you can’t remember everything you intend to do in a day at the time you ought to do them hence the need to write them down. Even God commands us to write the vision and make it plain so that he that reads it will run with it. In a nutshell, whenever you read what is written, you are spurred to action.

Another beauty of writing your goals is that it is clear and cannot be distorted by your brain in any way because when documented, internal arguments are eliminated and your feelings will not interfere. For example, when you have a goal to save a certain amount of money and fail to document it, the urge to buy a gadget or anything else can distort that goal. But when written, you will be more critical about that decision.

Writing down goals encourages consistent action because our purpose and intentions are expressed.  It significantly eliminated the liberty our brain has to dissuade us from achieving that goal. Write down every goal you set for yourself either on paper or online.

In my next email, I will share with you the next strategy which is Identifying Limiting Beliefs
