Easter is another time of family traditions, Mine always gather for brunch on Good Friday, with smoked cod (poached in a milk/water solution) and hot cross buns on the menu.

This year, just for fun, I decided to try my hand at making some buns. The crosses on top turned out a bit sloppy, but hopefully they taste fine in spite of that. These buns are pear and chocolate flavoured, as opposed to the traditional spiced fruit buns. I bought a packet of those as well for the traditionalists in the family.

We exchange chocolate eggs on that day as well, although most families do this of Easter Sunday. I learned something different the other day though - Americans don't have chocolate eggs like we do in Australia, instead giving children plastic eggs with small gifts inside.
