G'day!
Welcome to my very first newsletter. I'm so glad you're here. It's spring in South Australia, which means the jacaranda trees will be in full bloom soon. Though, at the moment, it still feels like winter (a pretty mild winter, mind, considering how cold it gets in other places of the world).
As you'll read in my latest blog Surrounded, the Lord has been moving and stirring, and I'm finding myself constantly drawn to the Psalms in my quiet times for inspiration and encouragement.
'I lift my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.' Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)
Writing Update
Tomorrow I'll be revealing the cover for Azure Blaze on my socials! Azure Blaze is the first book in the Spirit Flame book series (Christian Young Adult Fiction), and will be available for pre-order on New Year's Eve, with the official release date of 17 January 2023.
As for my other book baby, it could not be more different. I'm currently working on a split-time novel set in South Australia between 1919 and the present day. I love the historical research I get to do for this one. Speaking of...
Aussie Fact
South Australia was founded in 1836 by Colonel William Light and the capital city of Adelaide was designed to be a grid, with King William Street straight down the middle. The streets that then crossed King William Street had to be given different names on the opposite side as evidently no one was "allowed to cross the path of a monarch". Tunnels were also built beneath the city - the purpose of which is somewhat shrouded in myth and mystery. Some tunnels even connected to private residences. These tunnels were later used to transport soldiers returning home after World War I, so the men could go directly into quarantine from the Adelaide train station due to the outbreak of the Spanish Flu.
Your Gift
As a thank you for joining me on this journey, I wrote this novelette just for you. It's a prequel to the novel I'm working on. I hope you enjoy it!
