Are you Playing it Small?

Dear Wonderful Woman,
How are you doing?
I'm well.
You have so much potential! ππ€©ππΎπ₯
And yet we can be the person that doubt's ourselves and doesn't think that we can achieve our biggest career dreams.
We think, we feel like and experience things that wear us down like:
We need to keep our voices and opinions quiet or on mute
We feel like it can be hard to be heard above the noise or have men talk over us
We have heard people say people like you aren't capable of achieving that
My manager hates me so I'm never going to get any career progression
I'm not qualified enough
I don't have the right experience or enough experience
We discount what we are doing as not enough to qualify us to go for what we want
The layoff will make me a less attractive candidate
Because I left after a year I'll look like a job hopper
I may fail and look stupid
We need to have a timeout with ourselves and to change the record on your beliefs so that you give yourself the opportunity to play to your fullest potential and to go for your biggest career dream.
Today I'm sharing 3 ways to STOP playing small in your career:
1 Adopt a Testing Mindset
A testing mindset is where you approach things with curiosity, and test out doing things that are beyond your comfort zone. This approach is about learning to see that our feelings are not facts. Taking action in way that allows you to document what you did, how it felt and what there results were. And applying this to supporting your career growth.
What is 1 thing you will test this month to support you playing it bigger with your career growth?
2 Ask for Feedback
Ask for feedback from people that want to see you win and grow. Asking for feedback can help you to identify and find skills and talent that you haven't recognised or where you have the potential to make an even greater impact. It can also give you ideas on potential ways you can stretch yourself beyond your current thinking.
Who is 1 person you can ask for feedback from this month to support you playing it bigger with progressing towards your career dream?
3 You accept that there will be a bit of ick or discomfort!
Growth and going beyond your comfort zone isn't easy! So expect that you won't always feel good as you work and take action on playing it BIGGER. Despite it not feeling completely comfortable, that doesn't mean you should stop. Look for ways to spot your "ick" and put in place strategies to support you to keep going.
What is 1 thing that you can do this month to help you deal with your "ick feeling" as you progress towards your 2023 career goal?
Hit reply and let me know which one of the 3 resonates with you most?
I hope you have a great day ahead.
Warm Regards,
Ekua π
