How many Faces do you think Fear has?

Dear Wonderful Woman,

I hope you're well.

In the last newsletter I shared with you about my excitement in developing the KickStart your Career for 2022 virtual stocking filler. Developing this product has led me to come face to face with fears. Such as how well will my product be received? Or will women like you find it helpful or useful? Will I be able to make the impact I'm seeking to? These are the questions I've been grappling with recently.

I found out during my market research for this product, that many professional women wanted help with fighting fear and taking action despite feeling not 100% confident. This led me to do research in the area of the most effective ways to fight fear.

I came across the 7 Fear Archetypes as described by Ruth Soukup in her book, "Do It Scared: Finding the Courage to Face Your Fears, Overcome Adversity, and Create a Life You Love".

I am going to share one of the 7 Fear Archetypes below and what their tendencies are. Reflect and consider if this is the type of fear that you're working to manage.

Fear Archetype 5: The Self-Doubter

They tend to lack confidence in their abilities. They tend to fear that despite their hard work, they are not good enough.

Is this a fear type you can relate too? I certainly can! Self-doubt is very common among smart women, who doubt-themselves because of limiting-beliefs, male colleagues belittling them, female colleagues who may be empire building and the list could go on!

What can you do to tackle this type of fear? Well this type of fear has roots in a lack of confidence. So, I would recommend when this fear strikes, acknowledge it and then work to move to a different state of being where you feel more confident. Here are 2 tips below to induce a more confident state of being:

1 Visualise in your mind a time when you achieved something and you felt proud of your accomplishment.

2 Look at a photograph where you were awarded something/accomplished something or a moment in your life where you felt proud and confident.

I hope that this helps you to feel the fear and do it anyway!

Warm Regards,

Ekua ðŸ’›
