5 ways to Be More Confident and Resilient in 2021

Dear Wonderful Woman,
Happy New Year!
I hope that you've had some time to rest and re-charge over the festive season. I hope that you were present and really enjoyed that time connecting with family and friends.
At the end of the year it is also a time to reflect, review and consider, what our goals or intentions for the New Year will be. It was evident that adaptability, flexibility and change were all things we had to embrace in 2020. Whilst there is hope that vaccines will be more widely available world-wide, it will take some time for that to be rolled out. Whilst I am optimistic and hopeful that in 2021 we will have moved forward in the fight against the global health pandemic, we will still need to be ready for the unexpected.
Embrace change and a Growth Mindset in 2021. Set yourself up to be more accepting of the things you cannot change, and open to all the things that you Can Do. I'd like to share with you 5 tips to help you be more confident and resilient in this year.
1 Build a Positive Mindset
Take some time to be more intentional and more positive in your thinking. Really invest in noticing the negative internal chatter. Giving it notice! Because in 2021 you're going to be solutions focussed, ask for help and acknowledge every step you take to push yourself towards moving towards your goals. By all means, there will be doubts, worries and fears and days when you fall off the wagon and that's OK. Just remember that those moments are temporary, and the next day you have the opportunity to do it differently.
2 Have a Gratitude Practice
You have so much more than you think! It's wonderful to think about all the things that you do have. Appreciate where you are right now in your life, because it's really important to remember what you already have. What you have achieved in your career or your business. What you have done for your family, your friends and your network. Having a regular appreciation of what you have, helps you see the positive things that you already have. I encourage you to adopt a practice where you think about these things daily, because in so doing you're building your confidence.
3 See Growth Opportunities & Not Failure (Growth Mindset)
"Failure", seems like something to avoid at all costs? What if changing your attitude to failure meant that you were more resilient and successful? That would be great right! And you Can..... What I do urge you to do is to adopt a process where, you reduce the time that you lament what went wrong and reflect on the learning. What you can do differently and what went right? Even if it was not the outcome you expected, I am sure that even just putting in the effort to do it meant that something did go right! This is something that I'm really passionate about. I have personally made that mindset shift and have found it to be a total game-changer for me. I'd love you to check out my journey with that in my Book where I explain in more detail the benefits of adopting a Growth Mindset. Don't Fear Failure, Grow From It!
4 Be Kind and Compassionate to yourself
You're an awesome Woman! You have so many skills and talents, believe in them. Because I believe in your ability to make change, innovate and inspire those around you. You may find it easier to empathise, with friends, family and your network. I want to remind you to ditch being your "own worst critic". Dial up yourself-compassion! Take a step back and ask yourself, is this helpful or harmful to me? Remembering that even when you feel that you're not succeeding, or you've not reached your goal or you've "failed", that your effort matters and what you've learnt will indeed help you to succeed. Like I always say, "Be kind to yourself, be kind to yourself and be kind to yourself!"
5 Make it a habit to Celebrate your Success!
Make it a habit to take a moment to celebrate your success. In doing this practice you're building your confidence, because you are taking the time to acknowledge what has gone well. The more that you do it, the easier it will become, and help you feel more confident about the progress that you are making in progressing your career or your business. Make this year, the one where you adopt a practice to celebrate your successes. Build up that confidence muscle and remind yourself of what you have already done. And scan your mental horizon for your future success!
